
Tajikistan Secondary School English Teachers Professional Development (TSSET) Program
National Trainers Major Program Activities
Applicants selected to serve as National Trainers will be required to participate in all aspects of the program activities in order to become members of Tajikistan’s National Trainers Corps. During the three program phases, major activities for National Trainers include:
Participation in the following professional development events:
a 60-hour cascading training program based on the George Mason University developed Teaching English Through English (TETE) course;
10-15 hours of mandatory school practicum to be conducted in a secondary school. The practicum includes observations of other teachers and being observed by master trainers from Uzbekistan or Tajikistan;
Training of Mentors (TOM) 2-day workshop that includes guided action-planning workshops;
Communities of Practice (CoP) training designed to provide clinical supervision and effective mentorship to their peers.
Nominate 10-12 Regional Peer Mentors (RPMs) and provide training and mentorship to them using 60 hours cascading training modules, ToM and CoP during the November 2023 - January 2024 period with the understanding that extensive travel might be required;
Cooperate with RPMs to co-deliver of the TSSET professional development courses to the Mentees during the March 2024 period;
Cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science (MoES) and program partners in pilot-testing of created training materials with the intention of developing an in-service training course for MoES;
Cooperation with peers, if selected, to present at the Annual English Without Borders Conference and Expo to be held in Tajikistan in 2023.
